From Greater Manchester, ‘The Heroes’ were formed in 1998 as a mixed-ability pop group! The group performed hard hitting pop music containing strong social awareness messages.
This created a situation that was very entertaining and equally motivating for people.
This ‘multi-award’ winning group recorded 3 CD albums and 2 CD singles over a decade, winning a handful of recognitions, including prestigious 'Dada' and 'Positive Action' awards acknowledging their impact, creativity and inclusive approach.
Between 1998 and 2008, ‘The Heroes’ performed at events attracting more than half a million people at many outdoor festivals, large concert halls and smaller theatre venues. The group’s first performance was at the M.E.N Arena to 18,000 people at the 'Music for Life' concert and in 2006 they performed at ‘The Liberty Festival’ in London’s Trafalgar Square.
Due to the ageing membership, the group was disbanded in March 2008 after a decade of successful music making. ‘The Heroes’ impact and influence has provided the inspiration for the development of ‘The Heroes Project’ and the inclusive nature of a popular range of initiatives that attract a growing number of people. |
